As many as 20 wheat procurement centres have been established in four districts to achieve the procurement target of 20,000 tonnes. The District Food Controller, Hyderabad, who is also holding the charge of areas within revenue limits of ex-district of Hyderabad.
The wheat was being procured at its support price of Rs 425 per 40 kilograms as per the Federal government decision. Giving details about the procurement strategy, he said that 3,000 tonnes would be procured from Hyderabad and 3,000 tonnes from Tando Muhammad Khan. Similarly, 6,000 tonnes would be procured from Tando Allahyar and 8,000 tonnes from district Matiari.
He further said that to achieve the targeted procurement of the wheat, two wheat procurement centres, one each at Hyderabad and Tando Jam, had been established to procure 3,000 tonnes. Two other wheat procurement centres, one each at Tando Muhammad Khan and Shaikh Bhirkyo, had been established to achieve the target of 3,000 tonnes, he added.
Moreover, five centres had been established, one each at Tando Allahyar, Village Fahad, Peer Mari, Miranabad and Chambar of District Tando Allahar, to buy 6,000 tonnes, he said.
Besides, 11 centres had been established, one each at Matiari, Odero Lal Station, Bhitshah, Nasarpur, Hala, K.K. Nizamani, Zairpir Mori, New Saeedabad, Panjmoro, B.D. Kaka and Bakhar Jamali of district Matiari to achieve the target of 8,000 tonnes from Matiari district, he said.
