Minister of state for Information and Broadcasting Tariq Azeem has said that some opposition parties had hijacked purely legal and constitutional issue for their own political ends. In an interview with the BBC he said.
The case of the Chief Justice is in the court and no one has the right to put pressure on the court through holding demonstrations and taking out processions against the government. This matter should not be decided in the streets and as has been pressurised by the opposition when they bring out their supports and chant slogans.
To a question the minister said the President does not have any alternative when allegations are made against a judge then he has no option but to forward it to the Supreme Judicial Council.
He said it is only investigative forum, which looks at it under the laid out procedure for this. "The Supreme Judicial Council just looks at the matter and reports back to the President and only then president decides whether he should be removed or not", he said.
