President, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Syed Ali Raza has expressed anguish over the news item relating to investigation by FBI and clarified that he had absolutely no connection with or involvement in the aforementioned probe.
"I wish to notify the public at large and the members of media in particulars, that no FBI official or other local or foreign agencies have contacted me, nor have I had any business dealings with any person reportedly being questioned in the matter", Raza said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
He said that the irresponsible and unsubstantiated news items had caused him and his family members immense distress and embarrassment.
"I hereby warn that I fully reserve my legal right to take appropriate action under law against any one who continues to publish or circulate through any means, false or unsubstantiated allegations or insinuations", he added.
"With reference to various recent news items appearing in the media on the subject my name has on some occasion appeared as a senior banker whom the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of USA has either contacted or may wish to contact in connection with their investigation, giving an impression that I may be involved in some unethical activity or be a witness to such activity involving other persons also named "in such news items," he added.
