Wapda workers will stage protest demonstrations on Monday (today) in all major cities of the country to demand for increasing their salaries and pensions.
In a press statement issued here on Sunday, Pakistan Wapda Employees Union Central President Sirajud Din Saqib said that during last three years over 300 Wapda workers lost their lives and hundreds were disabled in fatal accidents during performing their official duties but authorities did not pay any compensation to their families and some workers were still awaiting for their medical treatment.
He criticised Wapda policies and added that Wapda income has touched to the tune of Rs 3 billions and there were some 200 millions consumers in the country but department did not appoint more workers. The workers were doing two or three jobs in Wapda but they were being deprived of allowances and more salaries, he added.
