Singapore beat an aggressive but uncoordinated Indonesian side 1-0 in an Asia 2007 friendly here Sunday despite playing with only 10 men for much of the match. The hosts played aggressively from the start but a lack of co-ordination meant their efforts were fruitless.
Singapore took advantage of their apparent weakness to launch a blitz counter-attack that led to a penalty kick after Indonesian goalkeeper Ferry Rotinsulu tackled Singapore striker Agu Kasmir.
A beautiful penalty kick from Fazrul Nawaz found the upper right corner of the Indonesian net around the third minute for the sole goal of the match. Singapore were down a man for most of the match after referee Jimmy Napitupulu showed Singapore's Harris Harun his second yellow card in the 37th minute.
