The Emirate Shipping Lines having its own 15 ships was expanding trade lane in the world with fastest transit time, said Emirate Shipping Lines Manager for Asia Jamshed Safdar during his discussion with Faisalabad Dry Port Trust (FDPT) Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Siddique here on Monday.
He said the Emirate Shipping Lines covers China, South East Asia, Middle East, North Europe, Africa and North America, while the service for Pakistan has recently been provided. He stressed the need for co-ordinated efforts of the up-country dry ports to boost the cargo for shipping lines.
Syedain Ali Muhammad Amin (Trade Forwarder), Adnan Ahmad, Rana Najeeb Ahmad and Rana Salah-ud-Din of Emirates Shipping, Abdul Ahad Sadiq (T.A. Cargo), and Zulfiqarnain (Mak Logistic) also attended the Meeting.
FDPT Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Siddique, in his briefing, said the Faisalabad Dry Port Trust had handled 30,588 export cargo containers during the last 11 months of the current financial year as against 28,539 in the corresponding period last year, while 4,833 import consignments reached this Port during this period. The shortfall in the imports was due to crisis in the textile sector.
He also said the FDPT had arranged 17 cargo trains during May 2007, which carried 604 export cargo containers to Karachi Port in addition to 2,165 export cargo containers carried by registered transporters Chaudhry Muhammad Siddique said the FDPT has its own on-line tracking system to monitor the movement of cargo.
