Federal Director Education, Brigadier Maqsood-ul-Hassan (Retd) said the directorate has invested Rs 50 million in providing free books to students from class 1st to 10th in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) schools.
He said this while addressing the annual prize distribution ceremony of Federal Government Boys Model School G-9/1 organised by Parent Teacher Association (PTA) here on Monday. He said the directorate developed "Survey Pakistan Atlas" for students to be provided free of cost to them, adding dictionaries will also be provided free of cost to students.
Highlighting the role of PTA in promoting education, he appreciated the joint effort of PTA and ICT schools in enhancing interactive learning methodology. Maqsood-ul-Hassan urged teachers to educate students in real context through examples by avoiding cramming learning. He also emphasised that every student could be an achiever with positive thinking, planned action and profound dedication, from the beginning.
Principal Nazar Hussain congratulated the students and wished them success in all their future endeavours. He said that pass percentage was 75 percent this year while the school achieved first prize for best performance in football, and table tennis, second in volleyball and third in scouting.
The outstanding students were awarded for excelling in academic and cultural activities. Maqsood-ul-Hassan gave away certificates to the academic position holders. Along with certificates and prizes, uniforms and stationery were also distributed among the students. President PTA Professor Sufi Ijaz Hussain Baloch and Member PTA Malik Ehsan Elahi, and Finance Secretary PTA Shaukat Mehmood were also present on the occasion.
