Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) held a workshop on careful/defensive driving at Allama Iqbal International Airport on Saturday with a view to highlight the positive attitude and new techniques among the professional and non-professional drivers.
The workshop was largely attended by CAA management and staff, officials of PIA, PSO and CAA special vehicle drivers (SVDs). While speaking on the occasion, Airport Manager Ashfaq Hussain shed light upon the aims and objectives of holding this workshop and said: "Through careful driving, besides protecting our own lives, we can also save the pedestrians from road accidents."
Shell Pakistan Limited Consultant Captain Kashif, in light of his international experience and training, informed the participants about importance of the radiant rules such as engine on, mobile phone switch off, use of seat belt during driving, tiredness is silent killer, excessive use of water during driving, following the speed limit on road and proper use of anti locking braking system etc.
CAA advisor on Health Safety and Environment Irfan Dossa said that this workshop was an effort of the newly created health safety and environment department of CAA.
