Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Home Affairs Waseem Akhtar has said that Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah wanted Pakistan as a secular state so that people could be given equal rights. He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony arranged by Pakistan Bengalis Action Committee (PBAC) in Bilal Colony, Korangi here on Thursday night.
He said MQM parliamentarians were raising voice for NFC, load shedding and other public issues in National Assembly. He said conspiracies were being hatched to disturb peace in metropolis.
Waseem Akhtar said problem being faced by Bengali community would be resolved on priority basis. Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for Local Government, Katchi Abadies and Special Development Muhammad Hussain Khan addressing on the occasion said his party was endeavouring for rights of oppressed masses.
Muhammad Hussain said people were joining MQM in large number throughout the country and those who were afraid of popularity of party hatched a conspiracy on May 12 to create ethnic riots in city. Their plan to pitch Karachiites against each other was foiled by citizens with their patience and unity, he added.
The minister said main reason of problems of Bengali community was attitude of their elected representatives in the past, who after election pursued their personal interests rather than solving problems. Due to their poor performance, problems of patriotic Bengalis have increased manifold in last 36 years, he observed. Shaikh M. Feroze and Maulana Shabir Ahmed Polani also spoke on the occasion. Town Nazim Korangi Arif Khan Advocate was also present.
