Entertainment tax on race club raised

The Malir Cantonment Board has notified the enhancement of the rate of Entertainment Tax levied on the Karachi Race Club or elsewhere falling within the jurisdiction of the Malir Cantonment Board from 33 percent to 300 percent of the Admission Ticket as per ex-rates of the Excise and Taxation Department.
The increase was approved by the Malir Cantonment Board in its recent meeting and notified now. Any individual or institution against this proposed increase from 33 percent to 300 percent have been directed to file the same with Malir Cantonment Board within thirty days from now.
Meanwhile, residents of the Malir Cantonment Board area have expressed their surprise over the decision of the Malir Cantonment Board to enhance the entertainment tax on Admission tickets of the Karachi Race Club by 267 percent in one go and described it an increase with no parallel in recent history of levies by the Cantonment Board.
