A painter from Karachi, Roohi Ahmad is exhibiting 20 panels of black and white sketches in the new building of the National Arts Gallery, here. The sketches are about landmarks that one sees as passenger boards on 18 travel routs of the city.
These related to autobus hubs at different points in the town such as Baldia, Bin Qasim, Gadani, Gulberg, Jamshed, Kimari, Korangi, Landhi, Liaquatabad, Malir, New Karachi, North Nazimabad, Orangi, Saddar, Shah Faisal towns.
The black and white sketches contain perception and citizens reaction as they take time to notice different spots in the city. In fact, they could be translated as to read what people note about the good points of their city they live in. Some people categorise as a city full of chronic problems, such as shortage of clean water and without light. One person had a sketch saying that life in Karachi had no meaning for him. One comment stated, 'Karachi is the most pathetic city but that is still my city.'
