Asian Football Confederation (AFC) approved Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)'s President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat in AFC Disciplinary Committee (Indonesian Leg) of 14th Asian Football Cup 2007.
Indonesia is one of the four nations to organise the AFC's showpiece event along with Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam from 7-29 July 2007, a spokesman of PFF said here on Monday.
It may be mentioned that AFC has been recently re-elected as PFF President for the next tenure 2007-11. He is already working as member of AFC Disciplinary Committee and now he will visit Indonesia with AFC delegation.
"For the first time in its history, the Asian Cup will be co-hosted by four nations. It has been held once every four years from 1956 onwards, the 13th edition was held in China in 2004. However, as the Olympic Games and the European Football Championship are also held in the same year as the Asian Cup (2004, 2008, 2012 etc), the sporting calendar is somewhat crowded.
The AFC have thus decided to change their tradition, and will be holding the tournament in 2007, and every four years henceforth from that date. This will be the first major tournament in which Australia will participate as member of the AFC, said Faisal Saleh Hayat who thanked AFC President Mohamed bin Hammam for lending confidence on him.
