The Ministry of Commerce has noted a news item in the 'Business Recorder' of Tuesday, June 12, 2007, from Islamabad under the caption 'Humayun's proposal seeking rupee devaluation rejected'.
A press release said: The Ministry of Commerce rebuts in the strongest possible terms this completely untrue news report, and states that it is a figment of the imagination of the reporter. The Ministry of Commerce further states that never has the Commerce Minister ever floated any proposal on this subject in any forum, let alone in the National Security Council.
The Commerce Minister attended the meeting of the National Security Council, but neither was this subject on the agenda of the NSC nor was it brought up during the meeting by anyone. "The Ministry of Commerce advises that matters of national importance and technical economic matters should only be reported by correspondents after verifying and checking their authenticity."-PR
