A function, organised by the Hamdard Naunehal Assembly, comprising speeches, skit and 'Dua-e-Said' to highlight the significance and proper use of summer vacations was held on Tuesday at a local hotel.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Sadia Rashid, President, Hamdard Foundation Pakistan said education and knowledge could be acquired only through hardworking and with burning desire. To take care of health was also necessary as without health no one could be able to work hard to acquire proper education and knowledge, she added.
The word of "holiday" is attractive and pleasing, but students should utilise the long summer holidays by making trips to healthy, peaceful and historical places in order to get more exposure and practical experience, they should concentrate on future programmes or do some social welfare work or take admission in vocational centres to acquire vocational skills, she concluded.
Chief guest and former regional director, Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, Dr Nazar Kamrani said that there was a prevailing fashion of so many holidays in our country that education hardly took place only for 75 days in whole year in most of our schools. He advised to the children to read biographies of great men, particularly of Hakim Said, to get useful things and information out of these biographies. He said that reading, personal experience and dialogue were essential to progress and advancement in life.
Paying tribute to Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said, Dr Nazar Kamrari said that Hakim Sahib had given the confidence and courage to children how to speak and deliver speech before a crowd. Hakim Sahib always helped the needy quietly in such a way that if he gave from one hand the another did not know it.
Child speakers, Pervaz, Samin Jalees, Hala Khalid, Qirat Abdul Majeed, Mohammed Ans, Mariam Akbar and Hira Ali also spoke on the occasion. Beside Farida Aijaz Hussain, daughter of Hakim Abdul Hameed (late), educationists, teachers, parents and children in a large number attended the function.-PR
