Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry will address All Pakistan Lawyers Convention organised by District Bar Association at District Court, Faisalabad on Saturday (today).
Talking to newsmen, Taveer ur Rehman Randhawa, President District Bar Association said that the Chief Justice accompanied by his lawyers would reach Faisalabad via motorway while Chakwal Bar lawyers would join the chief justice caravan in the course of his journey.
He further said the caravan would reach Chiniot from Pindi Bhatian Interchange while distinguished guests would be brought into the industrial city of Pakistan by a big procession. Randhawa said that judges of Lahore High Court and Azad Kashmir High Court had specially been invited whereas office-bearers of all bar associations across the country would attend this august occasion.
He strongly condemned the arrests of political workers in Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sargodha and Chakwal, which was still going on. More than 300 political workers belonging to MMA, PML (N), PPP and other opposition parties had been rounded up by the police.
He clarified that lawyers community of industrial city was united and had no differences particularly on demand of a LHC Bench for Faisalabad and reinstatement of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry.
The protest campaign has been entered the 118th day, he added. The establishment of bench in Faisalabad is in the best interest of 20 million people of the district. He said that the stage would be set up in front of the revenue department office where the CJP and other guests would address the participants. Not a single political worker would be allowed to enter the premises, he maintained.
Meanwhile Chaudhry Sher Ali, Member Central Working Committee of PML (N) and close relative of Mian Nawaz Sharif expressed grave apprehensions over the government's bid to disrupt the CJP visit.
Talking to newsmen, he blamed that the task had been assigned to the police and city district government to sabotage the legal fraternity's programme. However, the DBA office-bearers held meetings with the police officials and assured them of their full cooperation. Meanwhile, police had foil the attempt to take out a torch bearing procession through Al-Markaz Chiniot Bazar and arrested six member of Islami Jamiat and Shabab-e-Milli.
