Several Singaporean information technology (IT) companies have shown interest to invest here, Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister on Information Technology Muhammad Noman Saigal stated here on June 14.
He said the IT projects in Sindh are fast coming on the ground, adding that it has generated a great deal of interest among the internationally renowned companies as well to come up with investments in this sector.
He was of the view that investment in the IT and telecom sectors would be to the tune of billions of dollars, and informed that upto 30 Singaporean companies had shown interest to invest.
He said owing to the policies being pursued by the government of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz a great deal of progress has been made in the realms of information technology.
It may be pointed out that Saigal recently attended a seminar in Singapore. The topic of the moot was "ICT demand opportunities in Pakistan".
Saigal said for the first time such a seminar was organised by Pakistani private companies in collaboration with the Singaporean IT firms keeping in view the rapid programme that has been made in the IT sector in Pakistan and especially in Sindh.
He stated that the objective of this moot was to apprise the international firms of the immense development that has been made in Pakistan in the realms of IT.
The Adviser said efforts would also be made to convince the international firms to come and invest more in this sector in Pakistan as well as in the Sindh.
He pointed out that at present five Singaporean companies are working on numerous IT projects in Sindh. Several American and European firms are also in the field.
Saigal was of the view that as a result of this seminar, the investment in IT sector would increase three to four times.
