Justice Syed Hamid Ali Shah of the Lahore High Court (LHC) referred a petition filed by the Niab Nazim of Union Council (UC) No 15 of Kasur Sajjad Ahmed challenging the no-confidence motion against him and observed that there were four other petitions of similar nature and hence all of them should be disposed of by a single bench.
The court directed the office to present the case before the Chief Justice for necessary action. The petitioner Sajjad contended that the respondent Councillor Abdul Jabbar tabled a move against him and secretary UC called the meeting without his knowledge. The meeting was held in his absence and he was not given chance to face and defend against the motion. He contended that Tehsil Municipal Administration restrained him from functioning and attending his office.
He therefore prayed to the court to declare all the proceedings against him illegal and set aside the notification passed against him. The court after hearing his counsel at length referred the case to Chief Justice for hearing all the similar cases before a bench.
