The Lahore High Court (LHC) set aside the detention orders of Ameer Jamat-e-Islami district Kasur Abdul Wahid and released him accordingly. The court issued these orders in a habeas petition filed by the wife of the detenue, Alia Noor, submitting that SHO City Pattoki police station along with 30 police personnel raided her house on June 05 and took her husband with them.
She said the SHO was approached several times but he could not give any satisfactory response in this regard. She alleged that the police shifted his husband to some unknown place as he was not found in police station.
Petitioner stated that her husband was a respected person of the society and never involved in any immoral or anti-state activities. She stated that the government under Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) had issued 30-day detention orders of her husband only to restrain him from participation of political activities.
She pleaded that the detention orders were entirely based on mala fide intentions and were unlawful. She therefore prayed to the court to declare the detention orders illegal and issue his release orders. On court directions the SHO produced the detenue in the court who was released.
