A large number of fishermen on Monday left their houses and migrated to safer places as seawater inundated coastal areas of Karachi. The pressure of tides increases in months of June and July due to which the seawater enters into localities of fishermen, residing in coastal areas compelling them to shift to safer places.
The embankment of Dublla and Pan Mohalla were damaged, allowing water to enter into these localities. The team of Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum reached Rehri where these localities were affected. After which the team rushed to Abdul Rehman village of Hawksbay where seawater had intruded the areas.
Mohsin of Pan Mohalla, Nawaz of Dublla Mohalla, Sikandar Baloch of Abdul Rehman Goth said these villages were submerged many times but the elected representatives did not pay any attention to this issue. They said the walls built 20 years back by union council Gabopat were weak and demanded immediate repair to avert any big loss.
