CBR yet to clarify special surcharge issue

The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has not yet clarified rebate or duty drawback of one-percent special surcharge imposed on the import of goods cleared between June 10-20, 2007.
Sources told Business Recorder on Thursday that the one-percent additional customs duty would be applicable on the goods cleared during June 10-20. Similarly, the surcharge would also be applicable on Goods Declaration (GDs) filed during the period under review. Even if the consignment is not being cleared, the levy would remain applicable on filing of GDs during the period.
