Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Friday reaffirmed that the assemblies would complete their term and those who speculate otherwise are the enemies of democracy. Moments after the passage of budget 2007-08 by the National Assembly, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said there are concerns and speculations that the assemblies were going to be dissolved.
"I wanted to take the House into confidence that Insha-Allah the present assemblies would complete their term," Aziz said amid desk thumping from the treasury benches.
He was happy over the passage of his government's last budget and appreciated ruling Pakistan Muslim League and allied parties for playing active role in making budgetary session a success.
He also acknowledged the opposition parties for taking part in the debate on the federal budget with patience. Aziz was sure that the supplementary grants for the current year would also be passed on Saturday as per schedule.
The Prime Minister reiterated that PML along with its allied parties would participate in the next general elections from one platform.
Aziz condemned the British government's decision to confer knighthood on blasphemous writer Salman Rushdie, adding that it has hurt the sentiments of the Muslims. He categorically said that the government would never tolerate any blasphemous act by anybody.
