Punjab government is utilising all possible resources for the provision of modern and quality means of communication to the people of the province. Punjab Minister for Communication & Works Chaudhry Zaheer Uddin Khan said this while presiding over a high level meeting at his office here on Friday, disclosed an official.
Secretary C&W Muhammad Ahsan, Additional Secretary (Technical) Masood Rasool, Chief Engineer Highway Muhammad Arif, Deputy Secretary Highways Younis Aziz and other officers of concerned departments also attended the meeting.
He directed the officers of the department for timely completion of all the ongoing schemes so that the fruits of development could reach to the masses.
The meeting was informed that the work on eight development schemes under Annual Development Programme (ADP) in district Sialkot for construction of bridges and widening of existing roads is in full swing. The total cost of these schemes is Rs 2352.703 million and seven schemes out of eight would be completed during this fiscal year. Moreover, the construction of carpeted road from Sambrial Dry Port to Dhanaiwala is near completion on which Rs 172.800 million has been spent. Likewise a bridge on River Ravi at Saidpur is being constructed with the cost of Rs 186.699 million. As many as Rs 68.057 million has been allocated for the project in current fiscal year while Rs 118.642 million has already been spent.
The minister was further informed that dual carriage way from Sablime Chowk, Sialkot to Wazirabad are being constructed at a cost of Rs 836.082 million. During the current fiscal year Rs 346.450 million has been earmarked for this mega project which would be completed this year. Likewise 68km long Sialkot-Aimanabad Road would be widened at a cost of Rs 662.219 million. Chaudhry Zaheer Uddin said that all the required funds have been provided to seven schemes so that these could be completed within the stipulated period. He warned that any negligence would not be tolerated.
