Vote is the power of the people to choose and stimulate the Government. The Election Commission of Pakistan has taken bold steps to introduce computerised electoral rolls. Unfortunately, Pakistani voters have been in doldrums by some statements given by the Election Commission's official.
I have read the statement of ECP's official in a newspaper. Assistant Election Commissioner Dadu, said that CNIC is the main reason for lack of voters in electoral rolls.
Next day all newspapers published an advertisement from ECP regarding display of electoral rolls. It was also mentioned in the ad that people are allowed to enlist themselves who have NIC or CNIC, ie computerised identity cards are not mandatory for voter registration. Why the masses were misguided that CNIC is the reason of lack of voters registration.
