The rupee maintained a firm look as it gained one paisa against dollar in the interbank market on Saturday for buying and selling at Rs 60.61 and Rs 60.63, dealers said.
Matching demand with supply, supported the rupee to hold its current level in process of trading, they said. In the New York, the Swiss franc rose to a 16-year high against the yen at the week-end, as the franc broadly rallied on expectations the Swiss National Bank may quicken its pace of interest rate increases.
Franc rose more than one percent from late Thursday to 100.83, the highest since March 1991. Dollar has fallen 0.9 percent to 1.2294 francs, on track for the largest daily decline since late February.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee maintained its overnight level against dollar it did not show any change for buying at Rs 61.05 and it gained eight paisa for selling at Rs 61.12, they said. The rupee, however, lost 36 paisa against the euro for buying at Rs 82.01 and Rs 82.11, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee gained five paisa against dollar in Lahore currency markets on Saturday. According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading at Friday's closing level of Rs 61.10 and Rs 61.15 as its buying and selling rates, respectively. In the absence of buyers, the dollar could not sustain and declined to Rs 61.05 and Rs 61.15 on buying and selling sides, respectively, they said.
On the contrary, the rupee depreciated against pound sterling. The pound was purchased at Rs 121.65 and was sold at Rs 122.05 as compared to previous closing of Rs 121.60 and Rs 122.00, respectively, dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The buying and selling rates of dollar against rupee remained unchanged at the currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.90 (buying) and Rs 61 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 60.90 (buying) and Rs 61 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 120 (buying) and Rs 120.20 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not witness any change in the last trading hours and closed at Rs 120 (buying) and Rs 120.20 (selling).
