Negative statements of Indian leadership on Kashmir issue, would derail the peace process and cause tension between India and Pakistan said Abdul Hameed Lone, senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC-AJK Chapter) and Convenor Islamic Political Party (IPP) here on Monday.
Talking to reporters at his office, Lone said that as a result of the peace efforts and confidence building measures, the tension has been de-escalated between India and Pakistan. He said that Kashmir was turned into a nuclear flash point.
Lone said that two conventional wars had been fought between Pakistan and India on Kashmir and after nuclear explosions by both the countries, Kashmir became a nuclear flash point. Appreciating the role of President Pervez Musharraf he said that it was the result of President Musharraf's all out efforts to normalise the situation when two countries reached at the brink of a nuclear war and confidence building measures have created a congenial atmosphere.
Lone was of the view that until Kashmir issue remains alive, the normalisation of the relations between two countries would not sustain. "It is imperative to resolve Kashmir issue to ensure in South Asia," he said.
He called upon international community and world leaders to take stock of the situation and help India and Pakistan resolve Kashmir and other issues. Indian leadership is showing obduracy in resolving of Kashmir issue and they have failed to reciprocate the peace proposals given by Pakistan. "World community should force India to reciprocate these proposals to make South Asia a peace zone," he added.
