Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Syed Raza Ali Gillani has taken a serious notice of illegal plazas in the provincial capital constructed without obtaining no objection certificates (NOCs).
He directed the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) officials to initiate stern action against the owners of such plazas. He warned that strict action would be taken against those officers/officials found involved in these illegal constructions.
He expressed these views while presiding over a high level meeting of the officers of LDAs Urban Development Wing, Director General LDA Hassan Nawaz Tarar, Addl. Director General Housing, Administration and other officers of all concerned departments were also present, says a spokesman here on Monday.
Provincial minister directed the DG LDA to evolve an action plan and establish a separate anti encroachment wing on permanent basis. He said that the said wing would be responsible in case of any encroachment or illegal construction in the area. He said that 70 kilometre area of Lahore is going to be declared as "Controlled Area" so that construction could be given legal shape. He said that construction of commercial and residential buildings would be ensured according to the devised plan. He also directed to submit a master plan of Lahore city to take preventive measures in future.
Syed Raza Ali Gillani ordered the officers of LDA to submit a list of such housing societies within a week who applied to LDA for NOC, so that crackdown could be started against illegal housing societies. He made it clear that strict action would be taken against those officers who fail to submit the list.
