The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has invited lawyers to have a cup of 'Awami' tea with the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday, June 28 at Islamabad.
Senior Vice President of the Bar Sahibzada Anwar Hamid and the Secretary Zulfiqar Ali Bokhari addressing a joint press conference here on Tuesday said that the lawyers will observe the day long protest as usual on Thursday.
They demanded transparent elections, which were possible through an independent election commission. On a question about legal notice served on them by former President of the Bar, Malik Muhammad Qayyum regarding their press conference in connection with a press statement ascribed to him, they said they would give reply to the notice.
To another question about the state of lawyers movement in case assemblies were dissolved, they said their movement was not conditional with the dissolution of assemblies. It will go on without any let up until the rule of law and independence of judiciary, they said.
