After the Indian government banned on the slaughter houses in the state of Uttar Pradesh, meat has been removed from the hostel menu of Aligarh Muslim University.
According to latest media reports, student union wrote a letter to the Aligarh University vice chancellor and complained that they are being served only vegetables and lentils from the past one week whereas meat has been removed from the list.
The university administration has said that the ban is temporary due to the increase in prices of meat.
The move has been made following a crackdown of the Uttar Pradesh government against "illegal" slaughterhouses.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena activists in Gurugram (Haryana) today took to the streets closing down all the meat shops till the Navratri ends.
BJP’s newly appointed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s has ordered crackdown of slaughterhouses across the state.
