President Pakistan Muslim League, Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain has said that the ruling party was least scared of the proposed All Parties Conference, which more probably prove to be a failure. He said all the decisions on the next election would be made in line with constitution.
Talking to a private television channel, he said that no date has yet been fixed for the dissolution of assemblies but the government is determined to hold elections on scheduled, he said. Opposition's resignations from the national and the provincial assemblies will make no difference, as the government has the overall majority to elect president, he said.
It has to be seen whether the opposition parties would be able to adopt a consensus line of action as the leader of a major party is till now hesitant to attend the moot, he said. To a question he said, according to the constitution the provincial assemblies can continue functioning even after the National Assembly is dissolved. He said the constitution also allows extending the tenure of present assemblies for one year.
To another question he said the PML-Q and its coalition partners are well placed to win the next election on the basis of their performance adding however it depends on the election results to make future line of action. If in post election scenario the situation so requires, PML-Q would extend the hand of friendship any political party in the national interest, he said.
The PML chief was of the opinion that it was due to lack of interest on part of the elected representatives and political worker that the names of large number of eligible voters were missing from the draft voters' list. He, however said that still there is time and instead of criticising the government the political worker of all the political parties should encourage and facilitate the missing voters to get their names registered in the lists.
