Iraq's Umm Qasr port is unloading cargoes from two vessels carrying 100,000 tonnes of North American wheat purchased by the state grain agency last December, shippers and traders said on Monday.
They said the two vessels were currently discharging the hard wheat, which is part of four cargoes of up to 200,000 tonnes purchased last December at $220 per tonne FOB. The shipments are believed to be the first deliveries since a 70,000-tonne consignment of wheat discharged in Umm Qasr last May.
Shippers say they are unaware of any shipments that arrived in June. Shippers say they have knowledge of three vessels that arrived at the Iraqi port last April with 145,000 tonnes that were discharged.
