Angola rescinds British Airways permit, talks ensue

Angola's civil aviation authority has rescinded British Airways' permit to fly into the African nation, prompting talks between the British and Angolan governments, a spokesman for the airline said on Monday.
"We were informed on Friday by the Angolan CAA that it had rescinded BA's seasonal operating permit with immediate effect," BA spokesman Richard Goodfellow said. BA operates one return flight a week between London and Luanda. He added that the airline was working with British officials to try to resolve the dispute.
The BA ban came after British authorities informed Angola's national carrier, TAAG-Angola Airlines, that it would not be allowed to fly to Britain. TAAG was scheduled to begin a passenger service into London's Gatwick airport this month.
