Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) has further extended the period of availing incentive package for industries including regular industries of seasonal nature ie ice factories, ginning factories, oil mills and rice shellers etc, up to December 31, 2007.
As per some of the salient features of this incentive package, the industrial connections lying disconnected for at least six months will pay only 25 percent of total arrears as down payment whereupon connection will be restored subject to the provisions of 'Reconnection Policy'.
The balance of arrears still outstanding against the industrial units is allowed to be paid in monthly instalments. Chief executive officers of the distribution companies are allowed to decide number of instalments up to maximum 12, irrespective of number of months to which arrears pertain.
These industrial units will also be exempted to pay minimum fixed charges for reconnection. The defaulting consumers who are not interested in getting reconnection are also allowed to clear their outstanding arrears in instalments.
As per another relief announced by Wapda, 7 percent incentive per annum will also be given to those consumers who, in addition to normal consumption bill, make advance payment equivalent to average bill for a period of three months. This 7 percent concession will be adjusted against future monthly bills of such consumers.
