As many as 16 more relief camps have been set up in Shahdad Kot and Dadu aimed at providing prompt assistance to the flood-stricken people. Radio Pakistan quoting DCO Qambar district reported that 30,000 people had been affected in the district. While 6,000 kachha houses had also been damaged there.
He said affected people had been shifted to the relief camps and were being provided with food, medicine and other essential items of daily use. Meanwhile Pakistan army has distributed 1,000 blankets, 500 tents and 6,000 food bags among the victims. Emergency has been declared in Thatta district and other coastal areas of Sindh in view of the possible heavy rains.
Thousands of people have been evacuated and shifted to safer places by 64 sorties of helicopters during the last five days. People stranded along with the banks of river Koochi have also been shifted to the safer places. In Balochistan, distribution of relief goods to the victims is in progress by air and land routes. Security agencies teams are busy in shifting the stranded people to safe places.
Furthermore, a private TV channel reported that relief operations at Gwadar, Pasni, Ormara, Jivani, Sibbi, Khuzdar, Naushki and other areas continued. Pakistan Navy's ship loaded with 20 tonnes of relief goods has arrived at Gwadar. Land links of Turbat with Nasirabad and Naudaz have been restored, however, land links with most of the areas still remained suspended. Three persons of the same family perished in a flash flood at Shahrak.
