Literacy programme initiated by SHADE, a charitable organisation would enhance learning process and promote education in District Sialkot. This was stated by Iftikhar Durrani, Executive Director SHADE organisation today. The project of Literacy programme aimed to integrate rights, empowerment and development issues emphasising more on practice rather than concepts.
Sialkot was facing genuine issues of access to quality of education in villages. Most of the children were deprived of the basic right of education due to the inadequacy faced by the children regarding their educational needs.
Iftikhar Durrani highlighted the objectives of literacy programme saying it was aimed at increasing children confidence by involving them in interactional methodologies.
He said access to basic education is the right of every individual for enhancing human capabilities and in achieving the desired objectives of economic development.
The education programme in Sialkot proposes increase and extension of number of schools in the area.
While discussing the core objectives of the plan he said, the youth would have access to Early Child Care and Development Centres in 100 villages for the age group of 2-6. While the enrolment of 75 percent of the children in the age of 2-6 in Early Child Care.
Secondly, the enrolment of school-going children would reach upto 75 percent in the age of 2-6 in early child care and development centre (ECCD) located in their own village. He further said the project would ensure the enrolment and completion of full literary cycle of 50 percent of illiterate men and women living in rural areas between the ages of 20-40 years by the year-end of 2012.
While the enrolment would raise upto 50 percent of the dropped out children in continuing education system in informal schools run by SHADE by the end of 2012.
