Sialkot District Nazim, Muhammad Akmal Cheema has said that district government has earmarked more than Rs 1.96 billion during current fiscal year for the promotion and provision of quality education.
Talking to Business Recorder here on Wednesday he said that maximum funds, which are 68 percent of the budget already provided to the education department aimed at bringing revolutionary changes and to ensure quality education.
As many as 178 high schools would be provided the funds amounting to Rs one lakh instead of Rs 25, 000 to each high school for undertaking development and repair work while Rs 50 million had set aside for primary school councils for fulfilling their requirements in the district, he mentioned.
Akmal revealed that Rs 3.9 million has been allocated during current fiscal year for the social welfare of special children in the district. He said that more than Rs 2.50 crore would be spent on repairing of roads and construction of government hospitals and dispensaries in the district. In addition to this, Rs 1.64 crore would be mobilised on the purchase of new machinery for Allama Iqbal Hospital, he said.
