Sindh Health Department is currently in process of compiling daily data with regard to varied rain-induced health conditions and diseases other than diarrhoea and gastroenteritis.
Officials associated with Health Department's Emergency Operation Centre told APP here that a proforma had been despatched to all public sector facilities to help compile exact incidence rate of health conditions consequent to monsoons.
The centre constituted on Monday is functional round-the-clock to keep constant vigil on situation linked to health status of the people, particularly those based in rain-affected and flood hits areas of the province.
Healthcare facilities were now required to provide us with number of cases on daily basis, related to skin infections (particularly scabies), malaria, typhoid, snake bite and dog bite cases, respiratory tract infections etc, officials said. This was stated to be extremely essential to help replenishment of all required medications, including drugs and vaccines, at all public sector healthcare institutions scattered across the country.
Basic intention was said to protect masses against any difficulty due to shortage of medical assistance. To a question, the focal person of the centre said a chain was intact under which chlorine tablets, ORS, anti-malarial, antibiotics, all vaccines provided under EPI, and other relevant medicines could be made available to the healthcare facilities without any difficulty.
Answering another question, he said details of the cases reported at the facilities functional in both rural and urban sectors were also being regularly compiled. This was said to help evolve an efficient preventive strategy equally beneficial to hinder any massive out-break of ailments. He expressed his gratitude to international agencies as Unicef, World Health Organisation, UNFPA as well as local NGOs for their support to the provincial health department.
