Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said the government's strategy of restraint has been designed to save lives of innocent children, women and others trapped inside Jamia Hafsa. He was briefing a group of columnists, and anchorpersons of leading newspapers and television networks here at Prime Minister House on Sunday evening.
The Prime Minister said that the irrational and stringent attitude of the Jamia Hafsa management is mainly responsible for the present crises. He said they not only adopted an uncompromising attitude, but also provoked the law enforcement agencies.
Shaukat said every possible effort was made by the government to open a dialogue with the Jamia Hafsa management, but their response has always been unreasonable. The columnists and anchorpersons were also shown the latest photographs of the Jamia Hafsa and its surrounding areas, which clearly depicted that the claims of the management of Jamia Hafsa about destruction of the building was not correct.
The columnists and anchorpersons also expressed concern at the holding of innocent people as hostages. The meeting was attended by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Tariq Azeem and senior officials.
