Another labour colony consisting 1,000 apartments and costing more than Rs 780 million would be constructed shortly in Sialkot. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Sunday that the step was being taken to reduce accommodation problems being faced by industrial workers of the city.
The authorities have initiated steps to identify suitable land for the colony on Sialkot-Head Marala road. The proposed labour complex would consist of a community and commercial centers, residential colony, dispensary, vocational training and a school for children of industrial workers.
The government has accorded special attention on resolving the problems pertaining to health, education and accommodation being faced by the industrial workers in Punjab.
The construction work on 100-bed an ultra modern hospital is in full swing in Sialkot while the treatment facility of cardiology, gynecology and haemo-dialysis will be provided in the hospital. The hospital would be completed at a cost of Rs 120 million while Rs 150 million would be spent on equipping the hospital with latest medical machinery. With the completion of this hospital industrial workers and their dependents would get modern health cover at local level, sources added.
