President General Pervez Musharraf, Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) General Ahsan Saleem Hyat on Sunday morning attended the Nimaz-e-Jinaza of martyred Army Officer Lieutenant Colonel Haroon-ul-Islam and offered Fateha. A large number of other senior civil and military Officers and relatives of the Shaheed officer attended Nimaza-e-Jinaza held at Chaklala.
Lieutenant Colonel Haroon Islam, embraced martyrdom on Saturday in an operation against the militants, entrenched at Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa, in the federal capital. A smartly turned out contingent of the Army presented Guard of Honour to the Shaheed Lieutenant Colonel Haroon ul Islam.
Later, the body of martyred Officer was sent to Lahore for burial. Lieutenant Colonel Haroon ul Islam was commissioned in Sindh Regiment in Pakistan Army in 1988. He joined Special Services Group in 1993. He has splendid military career.
He was a graduate of Command and Staff College Quetta. Because of his meritorious services, he had been awarded Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card. Presently; he was commanding a Commando Battalion. The martyred officer is survived by a widow and two daughters Zainab Haroon, 5 years and Memoona Haroon, 4 years.
