The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday warned people against making investments in illegal housing schemes. The warning was issued by the Awareness and Prevention (A&P) Division, NAB in the backdrop of Quetta Development Authority's (QDA) declaration of as many as ten housing schemes in and around Quetta as illegal.
The housing schemes declared by the QDA in the provincial metropolitan as illegal include Shandar Housing Scheme, Mumtaz Bungalows, Momiat Apartments, Seven Star Bungalows, Khan Zada Villas, Sky Villas, Ahmed Arcade, Al-Khair Housing Scheme, A-Rohan City Phase I and II and Aimal Khan Housing Scheme. These housing schemes had not obtained the mandatory no objection certificates (NOCs), says a press release here.
NAB has further advised people not to be tempted by the publicity campaign in print and electronic media, portraying the housing projects as developed ones with the help of illusory graphics and persuasive slogans. In most cases the schemes are located several miles away from the main city or highway/artery and are likely to take years to be fully developed, it says.
The desirous investors are advised to confirm NOC issued by the concerned regulatory authority through personal visits or telephone to the offices of respective authority and booking firm, and careful scrutiny/study of souvenirs/advertisement and the exact location of the proposed housing scheme.
The investors are further advised to examine files and pay a visit to the proposed site and meet the concerned people rather than operating through middlemen.
