Cotton futures in open-outcry trading were called to open with 0.50 cent gains on Monday based on market orders as of 10:23 am EDT (1423 GMT), floor sources said. On Friday, the New York Board of Trade's key December cotton contract closed 0.74 cent higher at 64.63 cents per lb, and set a new contract high.
Broker Flanagan Trading Corp in its daily report said resistance for December cotton moved up to 65.18 and 65.90 cents after Friday's rally. Support was also posted higher at 64.10 and 63.50 cents a lb.
IntercontinentalExchange's NYBOT electronic platform cotton quoted the December contract up 0.77 cent at 65.40 cents by 10:27 am EDT (1427 GMT). It climbed earlier to a fresh contract peak at 65.05 cents a lb. The session low stood at 64.54 cents.
