Troops of Army Engineers on Tuesday successfully reopened the Railway Track Chamman-Quetta after weary efforts of around one week. Most of the road communication has been restored in Balochistan by Frontier Works Organisation and Army Engineers, 58KM Natal - Jhal Magsi road has been cleared and food has also been provided to stranded people in the surrounding areas by using the road as main source of communication access.
Karachi-Kalat-Quetta-Chamman and Lakpass-Dalbandin-Taftan highways have also been completely opened for vehicular traffic whereby providing access to the inhabitants besides those who have been providing relief to the marooned people.
Similarly, relief and rescue operations continued in flood-hit areas of Balochistan, Sindh and NWFP. Since the start of operations 400 helicopter sorties have been operated carrying 330,535Kgs of relief goods, evacuated 414 passengers and 18 injured to safer places.
Total 94 sorties of C-130 have also been operated to flood affected areas. In Sibbi 46.6 tons relief goods and 82 tents, in Turbat 10 tons relief goods and 808 tents have been distributed.
In Shadadkot 5,175 packets of mix ration, 3,000 empty water cans, 3,000 plastic buckets and ration bags (25 Kg each) and water purification tablets received from civil sector have also been distributed by the Army. In Kamber-Shadadkot 717 patients and in Kharan 750 patients were treated by medical camps and mobile teams.
In Turbat, 34 medical camps are providing medical services to flood affected population, 20,854 patients have been attended in Balochistan by various medical camps established by Pakistan Army.
