The Consultant Selection Committee (CSC) on construction of hydel power stations has issued request for proposal (RFP) to 7 short listed consulting firms of national and international repute for the tender documentation and supervision of execution work of five hydel power stations to be constructed in Punjab by 2008 with an investment of Rs 4,191 million.
Punjab Minister for Power, Chaudhry Aramghan Subhani told this while presiding over the Consultant Selection Committee (CSC) meeting held in the Committee Room of Irrigation and Power Department on Wednesday.
Subhani said the proposals would be received by the firms till July 24 whereas, the final selection be made by August 31, 2007. He said under Renewable Energy Sector Development Programme, Punjab government intends to construct five Hydel Power Stations at Marala, Chianwali, Deg Outfall, Okara and Pak Patan next year. He said in previous CSC meeting, 15 sealed Expression of Interests (EoIs) from the consultant firms relating to the project were opened, which were evaluated by a Sub-Committee in terms of the Asian Development Bank's guidelines. Thereof, the committee short listed seven firms.
He said two of short listed firms belong to Germany and Australia whereas, the rest of them were from Pakistan, he added. The Minister said the countries which had showed their interest in this power station project were also one of the member countries of Asian Development Bank. He said the bids offer after scrutinised by CSC, the least of them would be entertained. He further said the process of holding bids would be of international level.
