Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi here on Wednesday presiding over a meeting has approved new building bye-laws for cities of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala and Faisalabad in Punjab. These bye-laws would be evenly applied on development organisations, District Governments and Tehsil Municipal Administration.
In the meeting decision was taken for the approval of fees of building bye plans, that was substantially reduced under the development. The Chief Minister elaborating on the new fee structure for the approval of building plans detailed that now minimum fee Rs 2 and maximum fees Rs 5 would be charged per square foot on building plans approval.
The fees of building plan approval would be Rs 2 for residential purposes, Rs 5 for commercial purpose and Rs 3 for industrial purposes. He said for monitoring purposes a separate plan had been evolved. The CM said all the buildings would be inspected during construction process. Ilahi said building plans would be approved under one-window for industrial estates. He said under the discretional powers, officials would not be able to disturb people.
He said under new rules it would be mandatory for building or plaza owners to make fool proof arrangement for tremor and fire fighting purpose. He said to solve problem of parking, construction of car-parking plazas would be encouraged. He further said for mega structures, advice from experts and certification was now necessary.
