The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Tuesday unveiled the names of the winners and runners-up of its businessmen of the Year Gold Medal and Export Trophy Award for 2005-06.
The names of winners and runners-up of the competition of the NWFP businessmen were announced in a press conference of Sarhad Chamber President Liaqat Ahmad Khan here at the chamber. He was also flanked by Vice-President Haji Israr Saraf, Export Trophy Award Chairman Haji Mohammad Asif, Sarhad Chamber Executive Members Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, Mazhar-ul-Haq, Zahid Shinwari, and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Liaqat Ahmad Khan said that holding of gold medals and export trophy awards ceremony on annual basis was aimed to encourage and promote trade and industries-related activities in the province. The event, he said, helps in encouraging exports.
The names of winners of the gold medals and trophy awards would be put on display on the official websites of Sarhad Chamber, FPCCI and other trade organisations in the country.
Furthermore, he said the names and contact addresses of the winners would also be circulated among all Pakistani embassies, high commissions and missions abroad to enable these businessmen to remain in contact with the international market.
Haji Mohammad Asif the announced names of the winners and runners-up of businessmen of the Year Gold Medals and Export Trophy Awards of the prime trade body of the province.
According to results, Gadoon Textile Mills Limited has been declared 'top exporter' of the province in the Industrial sector during fiscal 2005-06, while the same unit was also declared as 'top income tax payer' of the province. In the trading sector, the Khyber Trading Company has won gold medal of the 'top exporter' of the province as well as the 'top income tax payer' of the province.
The Lucky Cement has been declared as 'top importer' of the province in the industrial sector and 'top sales tax payer' in the province. In retail sector, the gold medal has gone to famous R-Sheen Fashion Paradise after declaring it the 'top income tax payer' of the province.
In Export Trophy Award, the Chinote Enterprises has been declared as winner in the industrial sector. Other winners are Saif Textile Mills, Khyber Match in the match industry, TKM Enterprises in industrial sector, MKB Enterprises in the industrial sector, Daudsons Armoury in the arms industry, Royal PVC in the industrial sector, Tansneem Enterprises in the trading sector, Sunny International in trading sector, Pathan Handicraft in Trading sector, Silk Road Handicraft in Trading Sector, Kashmir Polytex Limited in Industrial sector, Taj Syringes in industrial sector, JR Tyres and Rubber Co in trading sector, Rakaposhi Pharmaceutical in the industrial sector, Sarhad Cigarette in industrial sector.
In the banking sector, MCB Bank has been conferred with the award of Best Export Performance and Bank Alfalah got award as Best Import Performance. Haji Mohammad Asif said from this year, the winners of SCCI awards would be included in delegation of businessmen going to attend Handicraft exhibition to be held in London on July 28. He said that a function to award gold medals and export trophy would be held in first week of next month.
