The Irrigation and Power Department, Government of Sindh has said flood situation in the province was law as there was low flood at Guddu and Sukkur barrages while Kotri barrage is flowing normal on Thursday. The floodwater was overflowing on the banks of the Ghar's main drain and the area was under water.
The water pressure mounted on the banks of the Dhamrah branch Ex Rice canal. Due to over topping, a breach occurred in the tail of Dhamrah branch and the water is flowing in between supro bund and MNV drain. Situation is alarming while efforts are underway to control the floodwater.
The MNV drain is under huge pressure and due to overtopping, two breaches occurred and have flooded the nearby area. Efforts are being taken to save the towns and area from further flooding. The level of Manchar lake is RL 1134.15.
The river discharge at Guddu, Sukkur, and Kotri barrages as recorded on Thursday were: Guddu upstream 253683 cusecs, downstream 219049 cusecs; Sukkur upstream 206111 cusecs, downstream 160821 cusecs and Kotri upstream 119333 cusecs and downstream 89360 cusecs.
