Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has managed to clear 95 percent litigation cases related to sales tax and no previous case was pending with the board at present.
"The board has devised a comprehensive strategy to resolve the tax-related issues within days and the practice was being followed strictly" Chairman FBR, Muhammad Abdullah Yusuf told APP here on Friday. As many as 24,000 cases were pending in various tribunals of the country, he said adding that with the efforts of FBR legal staff, the number has been brought down to 9,000 only, he added.
The chairman FBR said that 99 percent of tax related appeals in Supreme Court have been disposed of adding that there had been 6,000 cases lying with high courts and the number has been reduced down to 4,000 which would be resolved at the same pace. He said FBR efforts of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to reduce litigation between taxpayers and tax authorities have been continuing successfully as the board has settled major portion of pending litigation cases so far.
