Citizens are falling victim to quackery throughout the district owing to the negligence of health officials, according to a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday. The quacks had set up clinics in every city bazaar, street and almost in all villages.
Most of them claim that they have the ability to cure all sorts of sexual disorders. Some of them asserted that they were expert in treating all kinds of hepatitis and charge heavy fees from the innocent people.
In rural areas, quackery is more widespread and the "practitioners' are doing a roaring business in every village with impunity. Dozens of people have died due to wrong prescriptions of the so-called doctors over the last few years.
A number of Health department employees, including DHQ Hospital, THQ hospitals Pattoki and Chunian, RHCs and BHUs run their clinics in various parts of the district. Most of the doctors said they had treated hundreds of patients whose cases had been complicated by the quacks.
