Provincial Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development, Syed Haroon Ahmad Sultan has said that future of agriculture and economy of the country depends on the development of livestock sector and 11 percent of GDP is being obtained from livestock.
While presiding over a departmental meeting on Sunday, the minister said that present government is taking revolutionary steps for the development of livestock sector and a huge budget has been allocated for the promotion of this sector. He said that livestock has great importance in the economy and 35 million rural population is attached with this sector. He said that livestock is also playing pivotal role for provision of employment opportunities and elimination of poverty from the country.
The minister said that the promotion of livestock is top priority under the Chief Minister Punjab's Vision 2020 and all possible steps are being taken for increasing the production of livestock.
