Chicago Board of Trade soyabean futures fell more than 30 cents on Monday due to shower forecasts in the US Midwest, traders said. "Weather is still a driving force. Rain will limit stress on crops in the Midwest hit by hot weather," said a trader in Seoul.
Much of the US Midwest may see showers or thunderstorms on Monday, according to the Weather Channel, a private weather forecaster. August soyabeans in after-hours electronic trade on the CBOT were down 31-3/4 cents at $8.90 per bushel, after hitting a low of $8.85.
September corn also fell, by 18-3/4 cents to trade at $3.36-1/2 per bushel. Wheat futures also tumbled, following the fall of corn and soyabeans, with September down 15-3/4 cents at $6.05 per bushel.
